Plaisir Trails

Looking for a fun trail? Well then you need to get yourselves (and your bikes) to Plaisir de Merle. Plenty parking space for many cars. Permits can be purchased at the Trail Center (R60 pp) The ride starts at the Trail Centrr and is fairly well marked - Could do with some improvements regarding signage. If you’re into flow trails, then this is the place! It’s about 1km long with lots of features. For those that are looking for a scenic single track ride, then continue past the left of the flow trail and you’ll find yourself riding through a beautiful forest all the way to the top where the decent starts (don’t forget to take your photo in the frame 😊) Now get your legs ready for the long decent all the way back to the Trail Center. By the time you’re done with your ride, the indoor market should be open - Grab a delicious coffee (or a beer) and maybe even a pizza or ice cream on a hot day!

Both the flow trail and the full trail from the top are unreal 😍 plus, it’s easy to jump across to Boschendal for some fun there 🚀

Everything here on one farm! Great single track ascents and descents plus 2 flow trails. The established flow trail is a great session environment for those wanting to hone their jumping skills. The second, which is still under construction, has quite large jumps. The flow trails are best when the ground is quite dry which allows one to carry a bit more speed to clear the jumps. Don't be scared the jumps can be rolled. After the ride go and have a wine tasting. Plaisir have some great wines and there is also a market on Saturday and Sunday.

Very interesting trail , climbing and amazing descents, new sections being added on very soon , should be even more fun .

Steady climb up for the first 5km, meandering up the farm and crossing the stream a few times. Steeper towards the top as you get onto the mountain proper and hit the fynbos. Then a 4km traverse along the Simonsberg with spectacular views before plummeting down some super fun single track back to home base. I rode in the wet which was pretty hectic, gotta redo in better weather.

This is a GEM. What a great trail. Trail is well marked, well kept with very nice single tracks. Riding next to the stream and having a couple of crossings. This is a short trail (14km) but great with links to Boschendal as well as Banhoek.
